BARBARA BRACKMAN
Worldcat says she has 58 books of which I only have 39 listed so far - and it took about 4 hours to get this much done. Her website is apparently just a free pattern giveaway, though I didn't go down all the rabbit holes she provided. None of them said "About the Author" or "List of Books by." Wikipedia actually has a stub someone started in 2017 - a rare occurence for Wikipedia when it comes to women who are interested in crafts and crafts history. But information there is also woefully incomplete. It frustrates me. If you know more about this author and her work, please get in touch with me. I'd love to pick your brains and offer a more complete picture of this amazing person.
As I've started cataloging the quilting magazines I've got, I'm discovering she was also a frequent contributor of articles to "Stitch'n Sew Quilts" and "Quilt World Omnibook," along with the iconic "Quilter's Newsletter Magazine." She probably also contributed to "Quilt World," but I don't have any issues from that run to check. I will start building her magazine bib after I've got what's on hand cataloged.
For those interested, my friend Connie Ark sent me the catalog she compiled of the State Block series by Barbara Brackman published in "Quilter's Newsletter Magazine." from 1978 through 1996. This took Connie at least four years to compile, so when you see her at a show, tell her you owe her coffee. She wanted me to mention how wonderful and helpful the Quilter's Hall of Fame volunteers were for sifting through their collection of issues for the bib details she was looking for. I have the third edition - link to review is further down on this page; this was referenced in Judy Martin's "Ultimate Book of Quilt Block Patterns" as an important reference; It was also included in QNM's 15th Anniversary Top 100 Quilting Books list; This was an 8-volume set sold in a 3-ring binder. It was later(1993) sold as a 552 page book published by the American Quilter's Society, and then there was a 3rd edition put out in 2020(only 502 pages)...
