DOLLAR ORIGAMI

I'm really curious whether any other country produces a lot of books to turn their native currency into little pieces of art. Anyone out there want to shed light on this for me? It has caught on in the USA in a persistant way, with an amazing array of kits and books. I doubt my list is comprehensive, but I think you'll be surprised at how much there is on this branch of Origami. Apparently, I'm a big fan of this style of origami - over 40 books on the subject in my personal library, so more than double what I have for any other style of origami. Huh.
The earliest book I have is "Folding Money" by Adolfo Cerceda from 1963. The early books were published in the magic community, and not through the origami circles. Mr. Cerceda was an accomplished origamist, knife thrower, and magician. Born in Argentina in 1923, he became a professional knife thrower by the age of 15 and travelled the world performing under the stage name Carlos Corda, throwing knives at his assistant/wife. Apparently, doing this night after night wrecked him to the point of nervous exhaustion, and his doctors advised him to find a soothing hobby. That turned out to be origami. You get a lovely black-and-white full page photo of him smiling, a huge square of paper hanging from one hand, and the model of a life-size origami parrot perched life-like on his other hand. He was apparently driven to excel in everything he did, because he became the designer of a great many impressive models and was well respected in the origami community in New York that grew around Lillian Oppenheimer. There are hints from the introduction that his hopes and Mr. King's salesmanship were the impetus for Mr. Cerceda to try his hand at folding money instead of squares of paper. Mr. King also appears to still be working hard to sell folded money five years later in the 1968 Randlett's book. Mr. King is enthusiastic about promoting his idea for banks to sell folded money in bank-run gift shops. He provides a lot of advertising samples(and even more in the Randlett book), and makes his pitch with all the zest only a true entrepreneur could have. Between this book and the Randlett book, we have some evidence to believe that it was Mr. King's push to market his idea to other banks and through the magic community that popularized folding money in the USA. I don't know of any other country that exhibits so much enthusiasm for this offshoot of origami. I'm still trying to find the early Randlett book. If you have more to add to the history of money folding, I'd love to hear from you.
David Lister made brief mention of some published work after WWII, but didn't provide a bibliography for his wonderful article on the history of origami in ************************************************
There are several notable magicians who are also origamists: Ismael Adolfo Cerceda(Argentinian), Michael Close, Robert Harbin(England), Paul Harris, Robert E. Neale, and many other magicians use origami in their magic performances.
