SUMMARY- My jaw always drops when I see Irish Crochet. There is no other lace like it. I love the dimensional aspect, the sudden density giving way to fragile grounds, the wild joyous abandon of its motifs as they splash across a garment. The dress on page 23 says it all.

This book isn't set up to teach you basic crochet. Instead, it aims at teaching you a style of crochet that first became popularized in the 1850's, when Mlle Riego brought it to the world's attention through England's 1851 Great Exhibition.
