SUMMARY- She did a great job of culling the "How To" articles from period sources between 1854 and 1865 for the subjects listed in the ToC. She also included projects from the same time period in order to give people attempting to use the instructions period pieces to work with. The Tatting section's primary source was "Peterson's Magazine" - a well known women's magazine of the time that was in competition with "Godey's Lady's Book" and "Harper's Bazar". Ms. Marsh's time period runs shortly after the 1851 debut of Mdlle. Riego's innovations in crochet and tatting at the London World Fair, so the key technique of joining picots is represented.
