SUMMARY- Mrs. Morimoto likes using simple motifs to build fabrics or edgings, with only a few larger designs. Her instructions are in Japanese, but she gives good diagrams that can be read by anyone. She has started to branch out a bit in this book, employing split rings, block tatting and onion rings along with her usual traditional fare. I was quite impressed with her monogram set, which I've included a sample letter of on the monogram page. There is a whole lot of great and innovative design coming out of Japan in quite a few of the needlearts, and tatting is well represented. Other designers would do well to emulate the things that make the Japanese books rise to the top shelf - amazing photography, clean easy-to-read diagrams, and a flourishing of creative design. I was really delighted to add this book to my library.
