SUMMARY- The tatting patterns are all from Anna Valeire, a contemporary of Ms. Farnes and according to Ms. Farnes' acknowledgment of Valeire's contributions, a friend. Both ladies' other books are advertised on the back cover. Tatting patterns include two bed caps, 3 linen collars with corners, insertions/edging, or rose spray applique. There is a collar made entirely of 4-ring motifs, and a really lovely sheer jabot with fine edging and medallion corners, and another with pointed scallop edging.
The copy I got of this was really cheap - but it was also in pretty pounded shape. It took several hours on my part to restore the cover digitally with my primitive set-up and skills.
Instructions are of course in the old block form written out rather than in modern notation and with only black-and-white photo for referal. This would require an experienced tatter to negotiate.
