SUMMARY- The font used in this book isn't nearly as ornate as others I've seen from the time period, making it instantly easier to read(if you can read German in the first place!). It has a lot of really lovely examples of traditional tatting. Frau Frauberger was particularly partial to onion rings(a ring with a chain wrapped around it to create an extra layer that looks like another ring). Her notation is a little different, but not too hard to puzzle out, especially with the beautiful samples and photography that accompanies the patterns. I was surprised and pleased with this book. Unfortunately, I only currently have the free pdf from Antique Pattern Library. This is definitely one I'll have to find an original edition of!
