SUMMARY- I'm always interested in 3D tatting, and liked her first book for tatted fairies. This book is a second follow up as a variation on a theme. Ms. Craig is generous with illustrations to go with her instructions, which are clear and easy to read. Pattern instructions are in written notation, but broken down well enough to be easy to read. In the gallery, she does not give you any photos of the back of the pixies - a peeve of mine in doll books when it isn't done, so she gets lost points for this. She gives you a huge gallery of pixies she's made, but the photos are so small you can't see the details well. There is no doubt this pattern was test tatted to perfection. I enjoyed seeing what kind of variety she could get just from color choices. I wish she'd enlarged the photos as much as she could and given us a picture of the back of them as well. She included a small kit of all the beads you'll need for one pixie - a great idea to get crafters started, and took a little bit of the sting out of the price tag for this book.

My only serious complaint is the price - this book costs $36 as of this writing. I would have been really pleased with my purchase at $20, but the higher price point for just one project is way too steep. Keep in mind that I'm poor and still attempting to buy everything as it comes out, and still trying to fill in our already published history. When I overspend in any given month, we end up eating a lot of pasta and beans, so I'm going to be a lot more sensitive on this than most. Your mileage, of course, may vary. You can buy it exclusively from Tatting Corner as of this writing.

She gives you her e-mail address in case you have questions, and responds in a reasonable time period(I usually expect an answer within 3 days and Carolyn got back to me within hours). She is printing these books off at home, so production values are what you can expect from a home printer.
