UPDATE ARCHIVE for 2013Oct. 2nd, 2013:I've been working on reducing the piles of scanning to be done. I've also been tatting like mad to build some stock for a demo/show I'll be helping at this weekend. As payment for demo-ing, we are allowed to sell some of our work. Mama badly needs a new laptop. Both computers still use Windows XP and are over 10 years old. Upgrading to a new used laptop will mean also rebuying a used copy of Photoshop, so keep your fingers crossed that the demo goes well! We'll be next to the oxen(always a popular attraction), so we'll get plenty of traffic...
Sept. 15th, 2013:I'm almost done with the "Crochet World" and "Crochet World Omnibook" pages! I'm still missing quite a few issues - especially in the last 4 years of the main title - but I felt I had enough to go ahead and set up the pages. Both my mother and grandmother crocheted - I'm the only one(living) in the family who tats. It was still such a pleasure to go through the issues as the production values slowly matured and got higher, and the projects continued to be both creative and well executed - I really wish I knew how to crochet! I've bought "Crochet for Dummies". I hope to learn enough to at least do filet and pineapple patterns... Just remember Murphy - if there's an article you need to find, it will be in one of the issues I'm missing. August 16th, 2013:I've finished the UFDC's "Doll News" page! I'm still missing quite a few issues - especially in the last 4 years - but I felt I had enough to go ahead and set up the page. Just remember Murphy - if there's an article you need to find, it will be in one of the issues I'm missing. I'm starting Crochet World this weekend. It has so many great doll and stuffed animal patterns. I really look forward to getting to go through them finally. June 26th, 2013:We have reached a milestone - OVER ONE THOUSAND REVIEWS!!! This is spread over all five disciplines covered by this website, with the largest majority in soft toys and dolls. I'm astonished the bibliography project has come so far - and still so much to do. But it's nice to sit back and take a breath every once in a while and see what has been accomplished! Thanks so much for all the support and commentary - your thoughts and questions are welcome!
June 12th, 2013:I've updated the tatting bib page and added more reviews. I've been up and down this past month with the flu, and then a head cold, so progress has been slowed. I won't be contactable again until Wednesday June 19th. Send your questions and comments anyway, and I'll catch up when I get back.
May 17th, 2013:I have finished entering what issues I have of Crafts'n Things. I'm missing a LOT of issues from the last 10 years or so, but have almost all of the issues before that(It's had more than a 4 decade run!). Now I'm on to Doll News, which I'm also missing a lot of recent issues of, but have most of the earlier run.
April 27th, 2013:Okay, I've done the first run-through of additions to the soft toy and doll bib page, and have given it a slightly new look. I've added a thumbnail pic to the left of the entry if there's a review for a visual reference. If you have problems opening this page, PLEASE let me know. I've broken down scan and review files to speed loading times, but I may end up having to break down the main bib page into sections as well if people begin experiencing difficulties. I've checked all the book review links, but haven't gotten to the magazine links yet, but wanted to get this update up. There are still a few scans missing, but only a handful. I'll try to finish up the scanning this weekend.
April 13th, 2013:In my ongoing campaign to avoid finishing the final few years of Crafts'n Things, I've updated the Chainmail bibliography. I've only got 3 reviews up so far because I can't find the box I packed all of them in the last time we moved. I know it's somewhere safe in my storage unit mixed in with the fiction boxes somewhere but haven't located it yet. I believe at least having a functional list of books will still be helpful. March 27th, 2013:Ok, my contact page on this website is disabled for some reason, so it has been difficult to reach me. I apologize for that, and will try to get it fixed as quickly as possible. Until then, use: akamoraih[at]gmail.com (and you know to replace the [at] with the appropriate symbol, right?)
March 19th, 2013:I received a wonderful surprise in the mail from cloth doll designer Jennifer Haworth - 3 newsletters put out by the editor of "The Cloth Doll"! (Thank you, Jennifer!) I've updated that bib page: "The Cloth Doll" . |
