SUMMARY- This book is a product of its time, when the fiber arts were along for the ride as creative people pushed the boundaries in New York and London. Irene Waller appears to have been a docent for what most saw as a zoo at the time - which we now see as a museum for the culture of the time. She's talking about knots, and how they transform threads into works of art. Her choices of examples - all black-and-white photography - bring her points home eloquently and you'll find yourself absorbed just studying the photos. The only thing that could have made it more perfect was to include the unique color palette of the time. There is a chapter on tatting, but it is not as interesting as her book "Tatting" or as in depth as her tatting chapter in "Designing With Thread." I was still happy I bought it.
