Title: Treasures in Needlework: Comprising Instructions in Knitting, Netting, Crochet, Point Lace, Tatting, Braiding, and Embroidery
Author/Designer: Mrs. Elizabeth Warren, Mrs. Matilda Marian Pullan
Format/Publication Date: HC:1855(1st edition)
Publisher: Ward and Lock, London, UK
Language: English
Page Count: 448
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 7 5/8" x 5"

SUMMARY- This is one of those antiques that only a student of history will love. The tatting chapter is the first chapter, despite the order of entries in the Table of Contents, but it is only four(4) pages long, and disappointingly primative compared to the revolutionary work presented at the French Exposition and the London Exhibition by Mlle Riego. The authors even refer to the French Exposition of Industry in their opening paragraph of the tatting chapter - making this doubly disappointing. I'll convert the book to PDF format when I have the time. In the meantime, I'll make a quick PDF of the title page, preface, Table of Contents/Index, Introductory Chapter, and the all too short tatting chapter for anyone who wants it. I took the time to enter in the extensive Table of Contents(see left below the cover scan) here, since this book is not widely available, and other historians may need to know exactly what's covered in this rather large volume of the time period. The authors put the patterns in rough alphabetic order in their respective categories, so that it could double as an index.
