SUMMARY- This is a reprint of Vol. 1 of a 4 volume set of the same title. The tatting section is only six pages. This is not really a pattern book for tatting - it gives you a peek at how women of the 1900s were taught needlework, and has a portrait of Mlle Riego along with a brief biographic study of her and her work. I bought it for its historical content. I own a precious handful of "The Queen"(newsprint style women's magazine and gossip rag from London) from the 1860's - part of the time period that Mlle Riego was publishing her patterns in it and cranking out her famous books.
