SUMMARY- The book is in German. That's the bad news for people who can't read German. The good news is that there are diagrams, and the patterns are for the most part in symbolic notation. There is a huge variety of traditional patterns packed into this book- edgings and insertions, a stole and vest, lots of doilies, tons of linen tablecloth treatments, tiles for making whatever size cloth you need, and a collar and cuff set. There is a section in the middle of full page color photos, though most of the photos throughout the book are black-and-white. At the end of the book, you get a handful of really exquisite patterns employing onion rings and block tatting that make the tatting look more like elegant crochet than tatting. I had originally borrowed a copy of this book from the IOLI lending library, but was able to find used copies online and ordered one from Germany for a reasonable cost. The patterns do not use any advanced techniques until the very end of the book, so if the language barrier doesn't daunt you, I'd actually recommend this one to any tatter. It has a great stock of versatile traditional patterns, as well as the eye candy at the end for the more adventurous.
