Title: Album pour Ouvrages en Frivolité, No. 17
SUMMARY- I came across this booklet on ebay, and bought it and its sister(No. 16) for way too much money, but I was certain I would never see them again. I'm so glad I decided to take a chance on them. I have no idea what is in the first 15 volumes of this series, or what came after No. 17. The booklet is in relatively good shape for something that is nearly 160 years old(it is 2018 as I'm typing this). The sample plates are inscribed "E. Hagnauer" along some of the tapes bordering the top of the lace samples - the name of the designer, the artist who rendered the plates, or the owner of Sajou? I may never know. "SAJOU rue Rambuteau 50, a Paris" is at the bottom of most of the pages, below the plates and framed text pages. "Rue" is one of the few French words I don't have to look up, so I know they are giving the business address. No. 17 has 16 illustrations of elaborate edgings couched on netting or other ground, and the majority combined with other trims like rickrack.
