SUMMARY- This is a large kit that came with instructions to make 4 place settings and a HUGE cone of size 10 thread. The instructions strongly suggested using the Lael Morgan shuttle but it was NOT included with this kit. I've included a scan of the shuttle being sold with the kits in 1979 for people trying to identify their shuttles. The first two pages of the instructions are a basic tatting lesson with illustrations. The third(and last) page gave you the instructions for tatting the place settings. Instructions are all one big block for each piece, broken down only by Rounds. The set is very traditional and simple. Ms. Moyer used traditional written notation(not symbolic, no diagrams). I wouldn't give this kit to a beginner, because tension has to be even to make larger pieces that don't look warped and sloppy, but it would give someone with a good grasp of the basics lots of practice while providing something useful and pretty to use in the home. I love kits, and was happy to run across this one.
