SUMMARY- Most of the motifs are fairly simple but nicely arranged to make some really stand-out jewelry sets. The necklace on the cover is a great example. The instructions are in Japanese, but the table of contents are in English. There are diagrams - and those need no translation. I like the style of this designer's work, and look forward to seeing more from her. Her designs would be fairly quick to work up and not beyond someone who has a good grasp of the basics. There's plenty of variety(see Table of Contents). I particularly liked the mignonette comb / katyusha using Josephine rings to make a hair decoration that reminds me of chic haute couture. She has a great sense of design and can make simple motifs really pop.

There are a lot of tatting designers working from Japan and publishing a fabulous quantity of innovative designs. Ms. Kitano is a part of this new wave from Japan, and well worth tracking down. She has published three books as of this writing.
