SUMMARY- Ms. Dillon is best known for her instructional videos(back when everyone still had VCRs). She goes through the instructions for doing the basic knot with a few illustrations, and talks about teaching kids to tat. The initial motifs are very simple and her projects progress to more complicated patterns as she adds explanations of more advanced techniques. Then she inexplicably includes several knitting patterns in the middle of the book. I'm stumped as to why. You get a couple of family stories, which I enjoyed. I wouldn't try to learn tatting from this book, but I found it interesting and it had useful advice for beginners on such things as shuttles and winding thread. The patterns are in written notation and aren't broken down very well. There are no diagrams for the patterns, and the photos are mostly so-so. The one on the cover is the only one clear enough you can see the stitches.
