SUMMARY- I'm always interested in 3D tatting, and liked her first book for tatted fairies. This book is a follow up as a variation on a theme. Ms. Craig is generous with illustrations to go with her instructions, which are clear and easy to read. The tatting instructions are in written notation and are broken down so they are easy to follow. You get a diagram of the large wing, but just the written notation for the rest of the tatted pieces. You get two great wing patterns that look fairly easy to tat and assemble and she goes into good detail on how to assemble the bead body and put the figures together. In the gallery, she gives you a photo of the back of the angels - a peeve of mine in doll books when it isn't done, so she gets big points for this She gives you a huge gallery of angels she's made, each in 3 poses. There is not doubt this pattern was test tatted to perfection. I enjoyed seeing what kind of variety she could get just from color choices. She gets artistic with the gallery photos, though, and they're so small that getting any detail from them is impossible. I wish she'd enlarged the photos as much as she could and made them less fuzzy.

My only serious complaint is the price - this book costs $37 as of this writing. I would have been really pleased with my purchase at $20, but the higher price point for just one project is way too steep. Keep in mind that I'm poor and still attempting to buy everything as it comes out, and still trying to fill in our already published history. When I overspend in any given month, we end up eating a lot of pasta and beans, so I'm going to be a lot more sensitive on this than most.(laughing) Your mileage, of course, may vary. You can buy it exclusively from Tatting Corner as of this writing.

She gives you her e-mail address in case you have questions, and responds in a reasonable time period(I usually expect an answer within 3 days and Carolyn got back to me within hours). She is printing these books off at home, so production values are what you can expect from a home printer. I'm betting in future efforts that can only go up. I enjoyed this book and look forward to seeing what she does next!
