SUMMARY- I always sigh a little when I come across an important book like this - not because I don't particularly enjoy reading them(I do!), but because it is an investment in a significant chunk of time to type in the Table of Contents for you. On that, I enjoy having done it, rather than doing it, if you see the difference. I'm happy I got that done and out of the way. That turned out to be the least time-consuming part of processing this book for the catalog. It took me weeks to read this - it's not a pattern book, after all - and longer to unpack all the bibliographic information it contains. This book is densely packed with bibliographic and biographic information, and while a photograph can never replace the immersive impact of standing in front of the real thing, their photos are fantastic and plentiful. If you have any fascination at all for art quilts and want to be the expert in your guild on this topic, you cannot avoid this book - it should be on your shelf for handy reference, but at least check it out of the library for a month. I think any exposure to it will convince you should really have your own copy.
It didn't hurt that they opened the first chapter with a long-time hero of mine, Jean Ray Laury.
