SUMMARY- This is dense reading material, with a lot of black-and-white plates of blocks not placed in any particular order(but numbered so you can figure out what the block is called). It is well researched, packs a huge amount of information, and has the authority of age. It's an important book to have in any history buff's library, but not necessary for someone who just wants to quilt with ready-made patterns and instructions.
