SUMMARY- I didn't notice that the DVD was missing when I bought this, and I haven't run across another copy of it yet. But I can tell you about the book. This is the second one of his I have found, and between the first and this one, I am convinced I need to find all of his books. He knows soooo much about the history of this artform, and he shares tidbits throughout this book, as well as explaining(and giving examples!) of models for types of paper manipulation that could be considered off the beaten path of traditional origami. His real genius in this book was demonstrating all the variations one can get from a basic form - and he does this over and over again throughout the book. His puzzle chapter alone is worth the price of admission. You could spend a year just exploring that - but wait, there's more! The last chapter introduces what he calls "Cube Art". What he is doing is not making 3D figures, but employing the white side of most origami papers in order to "paint" a picture in side the cube of a recognizable figure. It blew my mind. He says he's done over 200 of these, and not just the 19 he gives us here.
I spent the time to type in the entire Table of Contents so you can get some idea of the true contents. I think this book is a must-have, and a riveting read.
Follow-up notes: I loved this book so much, I tracked down another copy with the DVD intact - and couldn't get it to play in my laptop! There is a big matt spot on the shiny side of the disc where the plastic interracted with the glue that was used to glue the paper of the disc sleeve to the inside of the cover. It may be that the disc was damaged enough it can no longer be used. If this is the case, then it is likely that almost all of them are like this unless the DVD was separated from the book before the damage occured, in which case it probably will never be reunited with the book. Aarghhh! I learned so much from this book.
