SUMMARY: I just received the premiere issue for this new newsletter that caters to the dressing of the ever popular 18" vinyl dolls like American Girl^™. It appears to be a mix of craft(several patterns and projects in the first issue) and business(interview with an Etsy business, advice on selling at shows). It is a full-color glossy throughout with great photography and clear instructions on using the patterns given. If you were a fan of Joan Hind's "Fancywork's Best News", then this is perfect for you. I've taken the liberty of including the url below. There wasn't a lot of advertising in the first issue, but that may be because it is so new. I will be looking forward to seeing what future issues bring.

I've received the second issue - more of the same. Great patterns for 18" vinyl dolls with well executed patterns and instructions. I have developed two peeves- patterns are not clearly attributed, and outfits, or parts of outfits, shown are not included in the issue - you have to go and buy another book to complete whatever ensemble is presented. That is annoying. Photography is still great, and articles are useful. I still recommend picking this one up.

Interviews continue with other doll clothes designers, and you get a nice potpourri of patterns for American Girl^™ in each issue created by Margie Swoyer, the publisher. All patterns are tested. I was annoyed that nearly all the patterns were unattributed, so I sent her an e-mail to ask why. She was surprised and fessed up immediately that all the unattributed patterns were her own designs! So, we can safely assume that all patterns that aren't attributed are Margie's. I'm pleased to know for certain, and she promises to make that clear in the next issue. I love her patterns, and am happy to be able to put a name and face with the designs. I've e-mailed her twice in the last two years, and both times she responded promptly and with the information I was seeking - I don't think you can ask for better.

Margie also gives permission for crafters to sell the clothes they make from her patterns - just make sure and credit the designer. This does NOT mean anyone else may sell the patterns themselves - just the clothing and accessories you make yourself.
