SUMMARY: First, Thank you Marti Jones for donating issues of this newsletter to the Craft Bibliography Project! I would never have known how cool a periodical I had missed. If anyone has further issues, please get in touch!
The cover may be plain, but the information inside is tantalizing. It is a mix of news, reviews, patterns, source ads, and helpful hints - and that's just in the two issues I have. Who knows what's in the rest! She does print pictures of the samples for the patterns provided, but not for anything else. But Dorothy Tooker has a way with words, and wasn't shy in sharing opinions. My earliest issue, she printed a letter from a woman who cancelled her subscription because of an editorial published in an earlier issue. Dorothy didn't argue with the letter or try to defend herself - she just published the letter and moved on. I admire that very much. There are so many little tantalizing bits in each issue, when you expect very little. I can't wait to find more of this one!
An Australian friend sent me three more of the issues - and all three had information in them that I got very excited about. Dorothy Tooker was not only penpal friends with Mrs Louise Concistre, but with Norma Benporath as well. She had contributions from at least two of what I think of as the Tower Press gang - Mrs Elizabeth Randall and Mrs Ila Frost - so does Myrtle Hamilton make an appearance at some point? I can't wait to find out! Dorothy Tooker also had ties to "Woman's Day" magazine, both as a contributing tatting designer, and as an insider able to give attribution to an otherwise unattributed design in "Woman's Day" pages. We now know she had an amazing tatting book and shuttle collection - and a mystery as to what happened to it.
HOW TO MAKE THIS MAGAZINE CATALOG SEARCHABLE:
METHOD ONE(downside is it takes some effort and time):
1. Open a blank page in your favorite word processing program.
2. Right click and "SELECT ALL"
3. Right click and "COPY"
4. "PASTE" or CTRL"V" what you copied into the blank page(it could take a while depending on the size of the page)
5. Use the search function as you normally would. Try to stick to only one word, since authors will sometimes use their middle initial, then not, change names, etc.
6. Trash the blank page when you're done.
METHOD TWO(downside is you have to wade through a lot of HTML code to read the entries):
1. Right click and "VIEW SOURCE". This will bring up a second window that will give you a behind-the-stage look at my coding along with the entries. There is a search function on source pages.
Use it as you would the search function for a word processor(see METHOD 1). Close the Source page when you're done.
Anyone with more information about this publication, or has issues to donate or sell, can contact me through My Contact Page.

SPRING 1952: Volume V, Issue #1 Page Count: 12 NOTES: There was evidently a Pattern-of-the-Month club that got discontinued in this year; One of the letters published in this issue was from Mrs Elizabth Randall - a column writer for Tower Press; She apologizes for the brevity of the issue(almost all of it was taken up with the two reprinted craft articles) and urged everyone to find 5 more subscribers...

The Fall issue was combined with the Summer issue for this year.
Winter 1952: Volume V, Issue #4 Page Count: 8 NOTES: Dorothy mentioned she was the designer for the three Tatted-and-Sequin Snowflakes in Woman's Day, December 1952! I love adding tidbits like this to our database; Dorothy also mentioned there were three tatting bulletins available from "Good Housekeeping"- GHN404- Nine Edgings, GHN405- Insertions & Edgings w/ Hairpin Lace combined with Tatting, and GHN487- Luncheon Plate Mat Set; Mrs Elizabeth Randall did a series of tatting articles for Tower Press; "Hodgepodge Magazine" is mentioned on page 7 as "running the Developmental Tatting series" - that mystery is going to drive me mad...
