SUMMARY: This is a yearly "greatest hits" issue that pulls reprints from all their regular periodicals: Somerset Studio, Belle Armoire Jewelry, Somerset Memories, Somerset Life, Where Women Cook, The Stampers' Sampler, Art Doll Quarterly, and Take Ten. Except for the Art Doll Quarterly, I normally ignore the rest of their titles since I primarily think of them as a art company that emphasizes making art from trash and recyclables. My friend Anitra Stone found a tatting article that was originally published in Belle Armoire(Nov/Dec 2008) - that isn't yet another basic tatting lesson or boring and basic little minitats that you can glue to stationery as you'd expect. The designer, Pamela Quevedo, gives you two lovely cuff patterns for your Victorian steampunk costumes! This is exactly how every magazine should test the waters to see if a specific discipline will sink or swim with their readership. Youtube can teach anyone the basics. What tatters want are new patterns - and potentially new tatters will want to be inspired to learn. I love these potpourri of article compilations - they give me a chance to look at a lot of different magazines in one place to see if I'm missing out on a periodical I would like. It is a lot less expensive to buy this one issue than sample issues from all the periodicals.
