SUMMARY: Aunt Jane's history was plagued with irregular publication, radical format changes, and fudged periodicity. Despite this, it had a lot of enthusiastic recommendations from older crafters. I've got enough of them now to start a page for them, but I'm still missing a lot of issues.

Aunt Jane's started out with an article "All About Dolls" that was a forum for readers to write in and send a couple of pictures of their collection. Until they left the newspaper format, Aunt Jane's was primarily a letters forum and showcase for people's handicrafts, rather than a craft magazine(though they did have a few projects sprinkled through the issue). Why they couldn't keep up with that is a question I'd love to ask the editors of the time! It's after it becomes a magazine again that it becomes full of cool patterns for almost all the disciplines, with the fantastic doll clothes patterns of Joan Chiara as icing on this craft cake. Back issues are crazy difficult to find, though well worth your while - I just wouldn't worry about anything before 1967.
