DOVER PUBLISHING COMPANY, INC.(NY)Dover Publications was founded in 1941 by Blanche and Hayward Cirker. They began with reprinting books in the public domain that had begun to be hard to find or were considered key books in a particular subject. Making affordable editions of hard-to-find books was so successful it became the core of the company. While they do publish fiction, music, textbooks, etc., Dover also cornered the market in arts and crafts, putting out wonderful series of artwork and needlework books(often reproductions of older work that has fallen out of copyright). By collecting this work into books from so many varied and scattered sources, they've managed to compile sets of books unique and indispensible to needleworkers and crafters alike. I don't have a complete listing of these yet(obviously), but I wanted to set up the pages, list what I do have and know about, and will fill in the rest as I come across them. So many of their reprinted works would not be available to us any more because of the scarcity and great cost of the originals that I'm not sure we appreciate enough the service they did us. If you've ever tried to find an original Marianne Kinzel lace knitting pattern or the Anne Orr embroidery patterns, you'll understand what I'm talking about. I have it broken down into four sections(so far) that I think will be most useful to us - below are links that will take you to the section you need. I considered combining the clip-art and pictorial lines into one page - but they treated them as two distinctly separate lines, so I kept it like that. I did, however, combine their needlework series with their knitting, crochet and tatting series - not sure why they felt a need there to differentiate.
