SUMMARY- So, I was expecting an involved lesson in making basic chain the old-fashioned way(riveted, like it shows on the cover). I was completely wrong, and That's why being able to see a Table of Contents is important before you buy. I still would have bought this, because I'm genuinely interested in patterns as well as technique, but your mileage may, of course, vary. This book is a pattern for a hauberk and accessories. It is for one size - the author's - which he keeps to himself. He does not discuss ring size, merits of 4-in-1 vs 6-in-1, or anything to do with the actual making of the mail other than to give the rough pattern and assembly instructions. If you are a seasoned knitter, you probably don't need this book, if you're a novice, you are gonna need supplementary materials - but would probably appreciate the pattern since the assembly instructions are well laid out and diagrammed so you can see how all the pieces go together. His gusseting appears to simplify the assembly from what I was originally taught.
