Title: The Complete Book of Dollmaking: a practical step-by-step guide to more than 50 traditional and contemporary techniques
Author: Pamela Peake
Publication Date: HC(ish):1997
Publisher: Watson-Guptill Publications, NY
Page Count: 144
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 10" x 7 3/4"
ISBN: 0823007731
PATTERN RATING: Patterns need to be enlarged, but are gridded to help. Seam allowances are marked, and she uses the A-B-C method of marking. The grainline is also marked - lack of which is a pet peeve of mine. You get a variety of dolls that look good.
INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are broken down and have good illustration to go with them.
BONUS MECHANICS RATING: While this book has doll projects to make, it focuses extensively on the techniques used to create doll designs.
SUMMARY- The basics section is fairly extensive, going over many foundation techniques for designing various types of dolls. It is a useful book to have on your reference shelf if you need a quick check of cross disciplines.
