SUMMARY- I'm afraid you're at the mercy of my personal sense of humor and fondness for old monster movies. If you share the same, you'll find this book utterly delightful and full of very creative projects that are impossible to resist. I know this for certain because despite Mr. Hayakawa's suggestion to photocopy the templates onto cardstock to cut out, I've now bought two used copies with cut out pages, and have just ordered a third(hopefully intact this time!). I went hunting to see what else he'd done, because I am now officially a fan, and discovered he did publish three other really cool kirigami books (and a kit of one them through Barnes & Noble), but nothing for eight years and counting after this one(it's July, 2022). I am terribly disappointed and don't know why he stopped. He's someone I would buy new every year instead of waiting for used copies to come available, now that I know about him and gotten to see his work. I badly want his artistic talents bent to an entire book of kirigami dragons(Eastern, not Western), and since he grew up in Japan, he must know their mythology and supernatural creatures well. He did an animal menagerie and a cool bird collection, and an entire book just on dogs. If he did dogs, he's got to do cats, doesn't he? And if he's going to do books dedicated to our closest companions, he's got to do one on horses, right? At the very least, I say. If I owned a publishing house, I'd be on his doorstop in a skinny minute with a contract and a wheelbarrow full of money as a down payment. I Really love this book!
