Title: Eva's Dolls and Puppets: Complete instructions for making the world-famous Eva dolls and their clothes, with yarns and other soft materials
PATTERN RATING: In order to save space, all the pattern pieces are overlapping each other in their section in the back, and while they don't cross the ditch, they certainly dip into it. You aren't going to be able to photocopy from this book without destroying the spine, and copying will be problematic. Patterns have minimal markings. That's all the bad news. The good news is that there is a nice variety of clothing patterns that are full-size for the knit doll patterns provided. I really liked the look of the clothing and dolls throughout the book. INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are well translated(as opposed to most Japanese toy books I have) and easy to read, but they aren't broken down very well, and there are very few illustrations to help you if you get stuck. SUMMARY- This book was first published in Danish(in Denmark) in 1969. I found the designs really charming. You get six different sets of outfits(plus underwear) for the family of dolls you see on the cover. You get them as either crochet, knit or sewing patterns, so you'd better be mulit-talented if you want to make the entire wardrobe. I was happy to have found this book. |
