SUMMARY- This isn't my first model ship book - it's just the first one I'm able to review for you. I will have to dig out my other books on this subject from where they are buried in my storage unit. Mr. Hahn was as fascinated with the naval history of the ships he was modelling as he was the modelling himself, so the first several chapters are devoted to that history. He had made plans of the ships he covered and listed those plans for sale in his introduction(yes, I always read the introductions to the books I acquire - a nerdy habit of mine). The last half of the book, however, is devoted to the modelling of the HMS Alfred(74). It is very detailed and there is a lot of reading involved. I found it interesting and full of things I didn't know - all photos and illustrations are black-and-white, but I feel that didn't detract from the book.
