Title: Making Creative Cloth Dolls
Author: Marthe Le Van
Publication Date: TPB:2002
Publisher: Lark Books, NY
Page Count: 160
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 10" x 8 1/2"
ISBN: 1-57990-334-7
PATTERN RATING: There is a really nice variety of basic doll templates in this book. They are all full-size and gathered together in the back. They have some markings, but not consistently so. The patterns are for art dolls, not play dolls.
INSTRUCTION RATING: You get brief instructions with very little illustration to go with them.
BONUS MECHANICS RATING: This book gets bonus stars for showing so many different techniques for making each doll unique.
SUMMARY- There's a fantastic amount of color photographs of a very wide range of artist's work. It really drove home how different results can be from one basic pattern. I enjoyed reading this book immensely and pouring over the examples given throughout. I was very pleased to find this book. I highly recommend it to the art doll crowd.
