PATTERN RATING: . Patterns are more suggestions of patterns than actual patterns. What few patterns are laid out in a more conventional way are very minimalist. They aren't even gridded for enlarging.
INSTRUCTION RATING: . Unless you have some experience already, these instructions won't help you much.
BONUS MECHANICS RATING: . Ms. Early goes into some detail on developing your own patterns, which this book strongly encourages you to do (hence the lack of real patterns). It describes some interesting techniques including "French Modelling" that I found interesting and potentially useful. This book is the earliest example I've found for soft toy design.
