SUMMARY- I should first mention that I have always been camera-challenged, ever since I was gifted my first Brownie camera when I was a kid. I took tons of pictures that summer, very few of which came out. Brownies are about as bullet proof as you can get in cameras, and I managed to flub it.. I poured all my allowances into buying film, and my parents had very little outlay in developing it, as there were so few useful prints to be made. I eventually gave up and moved on to more rewarding hobbies. Twenty years later, I tried again, with a Nikkon digital camera that was so small and light I had to keep making sure I hadn't lost it while dangling from its lanyard around my neck. Same result. I tell you this so that you will know to treat Anything I say on this subject with a healthy dose of skepticism. This book is obviously dated - nearly 40 years old. BUT it has a cool chapter on the history of photography that I found entertaining, and if you have a camera that happens to be from this time period, and you're planning on using it instead of your more modern digital camera, then this book might have some value to you as it appears to cover the basics pretty thoroughly - at least I felt I was able to follow along. Remember, your mileage may, of course, vary.
