Title: Pattern Designing for Dressmakers(revised and expanded)
Author: Lyn Alexander
Publication Date: Sprlbnd:1988
Publisher: Lyn Alexander Designs, Denver, CO
Page Count: 104
Book Dimensions(ht. x w.): 11" x 8 1/2"
ISBN: None
PATTERN RATING: You get a basic pattern for an 18" child doll to alter and style as you wish. This is a rather unfair rating, as this is not a project book, but a book designed to help you develop your own projects! I gave it such a low rating because it didn't include patterns for things like pants or underwear, which would also have been quite useful to have basic patterns of.
INSTRUCTION RATING: Instructions are broken down and very well illustrated.
BONUS MECHANICS RATING: This book goes over altering patterns extremely thoroughly, but ignores pants for some reason - an article of clothing that can be extremely tricky to get right. I loved what was given, but felt there should have been more.
SUMMARY- Lyn Alexander is famous for her doll shoe books. I was happy to have run across this book, but was mildly disappointed by the limited scope of the clothing covered - still a very good book to have on your shelf if you're designing doll dresses.
